What is the difference between psychotic depression and mixed state?
My grandma got discharged from IP on Friday, and the IP doctors Dx'ed her with dementia and "MDD with psychotic features". Since I have BP, I'm wondering if she is BP too. But of course, no one has witnessed an upswing from her, so she can't officially be Dx'ed with BP yet if she does have BP. However, I guess I'm concerned because the IP doctors gave her Zoloft. (Fortunately, they gave her Haldol too.) |

a mixed state has some mania symptoms going along with the depression. like I get sleeplessness, expansiveness, and high levels of creativity when I'm in a mixed state. psychotic depression is just depression with delusions, hallucinations, and or paranoia. no manic symptoms present.
