I find that the events of a depressive episode fade out from memory, possibly because I do not want to dwell on how horrible everything was, but the memory of the color scheme remains. Depression is bleak, black but not pitch black, off white, and brown.
Hypomania is everything brightly colored, with the color perception intensified to the max. Normal mood is when I notice such things as light pink roses which are neither bleak nor super-bright. What are your colors? |

Depression is gray. Just unrelenting gray everywhere I turn.
It's been so long since I've been hypomanic I couldn't say what those colors are. __________________ Of course it is happening inside your head. I'm not bp, but I was just thinking about the correspondence of color and mood and I was interested in this thread.
I just read an article on anger and it mentioned "seeing red." Thinking about it, depression is often referred to as "being blue" and jealousy to "seeing green." I automatically thought of happiness as yellow. I never thought about the connections of colors and moods before. Thanks for this thread. |

Depression would be stormy gray for me. Bright red, yellow, and orange remind me of hypomania. Euphoric mania would be neon green....maybe purple too for some reason. Dysphoric mania/mixed would be black since it reminds me of a black hole I never think I could get out of.
