I'm brand new here. My first question is does anyone take the new saxenda weight loss drug or know someone who does and have info on how it works with your bipolar meds?

Hello Denni9: I'm sorry I cannot address your concern. Perhaps there will be other members here on PC who can. However since this is your first post here... welcome to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. There are many knowledgeable & caring members here. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

Welcome.

I don't know, but what I'd do if I were you is to google it. There's a good website called askapatient.com where patients can post about they did on various meds. The reviews range from loving it the med to horror stories. I think it's helpful to see what others have experienced with different meds so you know what side-effects to watch for.

Did the doctor who prescribed it know you're on bipolar meds?

Just read about it and it sounds a bit risky. It has a lot of side effects.

It does mention it is counter-indicated with depression or suicide.

Why oh why can't they come up with a safe effective diet aid for those who need it! That and the fountain of youth should be top priority. The fountain of youth would be a permanent cure all for illness so it's efficient use of research resources.

Sorry, I've never heard of this drug.

I followed the link Valentina provided. Frightening possible side effects! Have your health care providers discussed the ketogenic diet with you?
