I am new here, for two reasons...one i just found out i am bipolar..not impressed...last two years are wasted then... and two no one seems to get what i am going through!! i mean i feel like i am losing my mind. my boyfriend, who is amazing, is getting stressed cause i get manic and he tells me and i just snap 'what am i supposed to do? there is no switch!!" and i just feel lost...and none of the drugs are working...i feel like a pharmaceutical experiment and am just depressed.... |

Not sure about two years wasted...meaning wrong diagnosis? Welcome to PC where you will rarely feel alone.
after 2 1/2 years with a pdoc I switch in April and got correct diagnosis... The up and down of BP is an odd one...I too feel lost at times...my compass just doesn't seem to work... If you just found out...the mood stabilizers used for BP of course take awhile to have any affect...in my case the titration periord can be up to two months...GRRR! Again welcome...see you around... __________________ Direction Ripple Effect - Small things can make a difference |

Welcome Gigglicious.....Im newly dxd in june.....takes a couple months to get meds to kick in like direction said.
The one thing i can suggest is read everything about the disorder that you can....knowlege is power....then share that info with family or b/f. Posting questions and concerns here is also a great way to understand the nature of the disorder as well as coping mech that others have tried. Hang in there! |

It took the lamactil that I started taking a few months after my dx to start working. My husband still isn't convicned that I am under control with the meds...he keeps waiting for the bottome to fall in...as do I . Knowledge does help...and don't be afraid to do some research on medications that are being used to treat bp....sometimes the doc is glad to see that you have done the research and is willing to try a different avenue to get your meds right for you.. __________________ Married, mother of 3 boys, Hoping to find blue skies amist all the black |
