My Primary Care Set Me Up

I received a email from Medicare saying I qualified for a once a year free physical and flu shot because I just joined. I called my primary to verify it was correct and wrote down the ladie's name I spoke to. I made my appointment the same day I had a podoc one too. Well at the primary appointment my provider ask how I'd been, I had not been in a long time. Then she asked if I was still going to the same mental health agency. I answered. Then she asked if my meds seemed to help and if I'd had any episodes. I answered her questions. Then she told me my blood pressure was good but I had gained weight. I asked if Medicare had any service that helped with it? She said no but suggested weight watchers.

Well I received a bill from them and I called about it. The manager of my provider's department said she looked in my chart....they saw that we talked about mental health and weight watchers so now it's considered a different type of appointment. I told her that the provider came in and right out the gate started asking me questions so how is that my fault? She told me to talk with billing. I called Medicare and spoke with a supervisor. He gave me all the information I needed what the formal name is. I called back and spoke to the provider's supervisor again. She is so so stupid she said she was not aware of the information I gave her....this was all yesterday. I called back today they said well we still have to go over your chart and see what all was talked about???? I told the lady I did not go on and on about my mental health I had already seen my podoc early the same day. Plus why would I wanna talk with a little nurse practitioner when my podoc is a PhD ??? I feel like my primary set me up and doesn't want to own up to her mistake. I talked to Medicare they said the welcome to Medicare service covers a physical, you can go over mental health and family history. Plus a flu shot.

Well that really sucks. Hope you are able to straighten things out.

A lot of doctors are lame. Like anybody else, they go for the $$$ at every opportunity. I've had better luck with general practitioners than the mental health people, but this kind of thing happens.

Around here, its so bad that many of the family doctors are turning to "concierge medicine." I guess only the rich get good medical care?

That sounds super aggravating! Sorry you have to go through that. Bureaucracy sucks
