Has anyone here done neurofeedback? My T suggested I talk to a T in town who does this type of work. I don't have any experience with it. What does it accomplish? What are the typical symptoms or diagnosis that it is beneficial for? How long do you have to do it before you see any results?

Any feedback/experience anyone here has would be welcome...

I just looked it up and that is fascinating! Like something from the future! Is it safe? Is it really possible to get this done through your doctor? I would love to hear people's opinions.

I just started neurofeedback about 1.5 month ago. I suffer from a wide range of symptoms (anxiety, depression, anhedonia, obsessivity, psychosis) as a result of longterm trauma and (legal) medication use.

I find the neurofeedback quite scary... I don't feel like they really understand the brain enough or know what they are doing or what the effects for each person can be. But I have the same feeling with medication. And want to try it because I have severe side effects from medication and I just need to find something different to get off meds.

That being said... I can see results. They are partly positive (I seem to be more stable, less anxious, less depressed, less obsessive, less sensitive to psychosis). Partly negative (more anhedonia, feeling less emotions, also less positive emotions).

I have a strong doubt whether to continue. It definitely has effects for me, but also adverse effects and I think good psychotherapy should be tried first.
