I started 50 mg Zoloft. Maybe dosage needs to be higher?
Not bringing me up. Can't really tell any difference.

How long have you been taking it? It can take several weeks to see a noticeable change.

Some people do well on Zoloft & some don't. Everybody is different, IMO. I take Lexapro, & it's sometimes hard to tell if the drug is propping me up, or if having positive energy right now makes a difference. Sometimes I just have to adjust my attitude...& other times I get so depressed & paranoid that I don't leave the house. Is the positive stuff a product of attitude, meds, or both? In any case, everyone's depression is individual.

If you haven't been taking the Zoloft that long (for me, I started feeling a bit better after 2-4 weeks) give it a chance. They don't kick in immediately. Good luck.

I had really bad side effects from Zoloft. It made me so dizzy that I could not even walk.
Not nice

I've been on it for 9 weeks.
Yeah. I have a hard time leaving the house. Showering seems impossible.
I haven't lost the weight I gained from Effexor & seraquel yet. First time I've ever had weight problem for an extended time.
Should loose about 60 lbs.

9 weeks eh? I'm surprised you're still at 50mg, but I can imagine anti-depressants with Bipolar can make things more tricky.

I was up to 200mg at one point. It did help, but eventually it just wasn't doing it for me so I quit cold turkey (do not recommend).

Perhaps you could bring up the topic of an increased dose next time you see your psychiatrist? 50mg is on the low side. Good luck!

Large doses of anti-depressants make me go - ZOOM!!! - so I'm on a minimum dose. Instead, my doc just increases my dose of lamictal. It's supposed to have some anti-depressant effects. Thus goes the logic...I stated my beliefs earlier in the thread, though.

It takes a while and they probably should've tried upping your dosage. I didn't have success with it in a way that encouraged me to remain on it. It helped me up but it also made me extremely irritable and unable to keep control of it. I think that's a common side effect when you're pretty young.

Talk to them about upping your dosage as soon as you can. I guess, it's nice they're taking it easy but after a certain point they need to move forward.

Thanks. Before I give upon it I'll see about stronger dosage.
I've had BP for over 35 years.
Had a million med changes.
Last hospitalized 2 yrs ago. Very bad. Had ECT. Also bad.

I took Zoloft and it did nothing to make me feel better, but it made my hands shake like crazy. I quit cold turkey -- do NOT recommend. I had a four-day migraine and had gastrointestinal issues for a month!
I'm on Cymbalta as an antidepressant now. It's working better for me so far, although it hasn't been like a miracle drug or anything.

I took cymbalta. For 2 years. Then it pooped out.
It was one of the hardest drugs to come off of. Neurontin was a nightmare to quit too.
