Hey y'all....we've been doing okay (un huh). Presently I think we have been all over the place with massive triggers and craziness in switching with out of character moods and inappropiate giggleness and joy.

So being without a pdoc due to crappy work insurance but med managed through our GP...we've been boosting our lamotrigine weekly by cutting our 150 mg down to bits to do about a 10 mg boost weekly.

Not only that....we have been drinking heavily and can't satisfy that hole within. We are at 330 mg...and I could of sworn we left the hospital at 350 mg but somehow lost the 50mg somewhere.

I'm planning to reach our GP soon and get the appropiate pills 50mg to augment our daily dose.

Nevermind the parts that swear that we aren't bipolar, but everytime we try to go off meds....it's not good. Wish us luck!

It was impossible for me to get stable when I was drinking. It renders psyche meds ineffective.

Yep. Amen to this. I had a nurse tell me once that alcohol and drugs bind tighter and faster to the same neurotransmitters as the psych meds.

As such, they crowd out the psych meds and render them ineffective, same as if you had "gone off your meds." It's an over-simplified analogy I know, but it helps keep me away from substances.

I'm a hundred alcoholics in one body. It only takes one of us to drink even though most of us wants to quit. Usually it takes a committment in jail or a hospital to square us all up.
