Anyone do adult coloring books?

I don't do them, but I saw some cool Walking Dead, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc adult coloring books on Amazon. I also saw some funny swear ones, where you color in the the words "f#ck", "sh#t", "asshole", etc. There's the swear word and art around it. (That's the best I can describe it.)

You can pretty much find a coloring book for any pop culture you can think of.

My therapist suggested that I find stress relievers, and that popped into my mind (mostly because I've seen the idea tossed around on here). So I was wondering if you've done them and found them helpful

Hi Blue!

I can see two large adult coloring books from where I am seated. I also see a huge case of colored pencils!

I like the idea of these coloring books. I enjoy coloring, too. I just don't get to do it very often. There is usually too much going on around me. It also requires a surface upon which to place the paper or book. Those types of spaces are limited right now. I am getting a new desk soon, so maybe?

In addition to relaxation, the coloring the pictures is supposed to help integrate the brain hemispheres.

Gonna try it?

I hate them. Don't know why. Sometimes i have managed a whole mandella and found it almost helpful but usually i get bored in like 0.0001 seconds. Instead of calming me they irritate me. Hey, but thats just me. Most people love them.

They irritate me to because I'm trying to be perfect. It was easier when you didn't care if things matched or not.

I bought the book but couldn't get myself to do the coloring. Maybe someday. It is said to be an excellent stress reducer for some people.

Adult coloring books have saved me from utter boredom on more than one IP stay. But I don't seem to do them when I'm on the outside.

I think I would enjoy kids coloring books more. I used to buy them often as an adult and my kids and I would color together not that long ago. We'd color a picture and then give it to each other. Awww....fond memories.

I did coloring IP found it helpful so I bought an adult coloring book but it is still uncolored. Guess I mostly veg out in front of a tv or in a book. Books calm me down, I can be too upset to focus well and keep reading the same paragraph until it clicks then keep reading until I'm calm.

Yeah, I was going to see how well it works out for me. I've tried a lot of stress relievers that people have recommended to me, but they just don't seem to work for very long.

Yeah, I was going to go with something simple-ish. Like other people here, I'd go nuts trying to color a fancy design like a mandala, so I think I'd get too frustrated and give up right away. But I believe something simple without a lot of intricate details would work just fine for me. Might buy some kids coloring books -- thanks.

I've thought of drawing my own things and coloring them in, but I get too frustrated with the drawing part.

I have a coloring book from an artist I really love named Mab Graves. She does big eye art with a creepy cute quality. When I got the coloring book I liked the pictures so much in black and white that I couldn't get myself to color in it.

The kid coloring books are fun. I like outlining everything in bold marker then shading the color in with crayons.

On Amazon, there is a coloring book series by Angie Grace that I absolutely love. It's hard to describe the patterns, they are mandelas but when you color them- you can see a flower pop out or some other pattern. She has a great Facebook page- she's a very contemplative person and I find her outlook on life to be refreshing.

It has been a great stress reliever for me, and it's something that my daughter and I do together.

I find the adult coloring books to be too detailed and overwhelming. I still have a couple, though, and a box full of coloring pencils. I found one that was stained glass designs and that was easy for me.

I found the ones on the psych ward i just got out of were easy enough to do with little concentration. I bought one at a book store but they were so detailed it would take a week to finish. I'll keep fishing for better adult coloring books it gives me something constructive to do while I keep my MP3 player going.

Ah, wish I looked that up earlier. I just bought The Walking Dead coloring book along with coloring supplies.

I also found this site: Home / Color Ink Book

Seems neat. They come out with a coloring book every few months or so. I might do that if this coloring thing goes well. Only $10 anyways, or $5 for last month's copy. This month's copy looks like it's featuring Mab Graves.

I do every so often, but then I get bored and frustrated at the fact that either the art is too small (I'm legally blind) or it doesn't look 100% perfect to me. But when I do, do them I really find them relaxing.

The walking dead should be a lot of fun! Yeah, I saw that Mav Graves Coloring book and may buy it as a Christmas gift to myself and even color in it. I love the cover art chosen and wonder if there is more Mab Graves designs inside or just the one.

I get frustrated with them cause they take up a lot of concentration and I really don't have it in me to sit and colour. I use to love colouring in when u was a kid though

Ah, you should do it!

I saw that some earlier issues had about 40 pages in them, so I'm guessing this one is about 40 pages as well. I also see that it mentions 12 artists' works are in this particular issue... which averages out to 3.3 pages per artist. (Who knows if there are any advertisements that take up space, too.) Maybe the featured artists get like 5 pictures and everyone else gets 2-3? Just my guess

I enjoy coloring. I have several books, both adult and child, that I color in. I so enjoy the smell of a fresh box of Crayola Crayons and also enjoy looking at my Prismacolor colored pencils.

We have a coloring social group on here if you want to join. It's called Coloring Club. Anyone is welcome to join.
