Anyone take this? I'm starting tomorrow morning because I'm having hypersomnia from all my sedating medications. I'm hoping to get my mornings back, but I'd like to do that without flipping into mania.

Oh cool! I need to update. It's been a while.

It's a stimulant, but apparently an atypical one.

I've been wondering for a while: what do stimulants do for bipolar people? I'd think they'd make you manic

Well... we're gonna find out. I read some articles online that it doesn't cause mania, and then other stuff saying it does.

Hi Franz, I took Modafinil for 2 weeks, 1 tablet day. Worked really well. No mania and helped me function better. After this I was placed on Ritalin and have again had no problems. But we are all different. Good luck.

It worked really well for me back when I was working. EVery so often it would agitate me but I carried some ativan for those times and as long as I took it as soon as I felt agitated it never was a problem. It kept me working for a long time that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. 6 years? 8? a long time.

Modanifil worked well for me for a long time. It didn't cause mania. It's not considered a stimulant in the traditional sense, and as such I think there's less risk for mania.

Keep us posted on how it's going. I hope you get your mornings back!

Day 1: Took modafinil at 7:45am and continued to sleep until around 9am. Now I'm wide awake and very focused on work. I haven't been able to truly focus on work in... god knows how long. So far so good!!!

I used to set an alarm to take it about 2 hours before I wanted to be awake. Worked really well for me.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I dislike the modafanil more than all of the stimulants. I don't like stimulants in the first place because it exacerbates my anxiety. However, I have tried several and have never had a worse come down/crash than when I took that. But that's my own experience, like I said stimulants are no bueno for me.
