I'm wondering if any of you out there take lithium orotate? I've been looking into it but I'm scared to try because I got lithium toxicity on the RX before. So will I have the same effect? I remember that lithium did really stabilize me but still I got toxic on it. Oh and...diarrhea lol. Not fun.
So if anyone can give me any info on this, that would be great! And if you take it, how many mg's do you take per day? Last edited by ComfortablyNumb5; Dec 10, 2016 at 05:19 AM.. |

I don't know much about it but I'm pretty sure it doesn't carry the same risks and side effects of lithium carbonate. I don't think you can get toxicity from it. But I would research as much as you can first.

Lithium orotate is dosed at a much lower dose.
I take 240mg twice a day so total of 480mg for the day, much lower than the regular starting dose of 1500-2000mg. I think that it has helped me. I have been able to have some Alcohol free days when earlier I could not. I also think that the glutamine has helped in that regard too. Lucy is the poster who brought up the idea to me. I get it from amazon and it costs less than $16 for 200 pills. That is a 50 day supply when I take 4 a day. but I am taking all of my psych meds too. and lots of supplements. bizi __________________ lamictal 2x a day haldol 2x a day cogentin 2x a day klonipin , 1mg at night, fish oil coq10 multi vit,, vit c, at noon, tumeric, caffeine Remeron at night, zyprexa, requip2-4mg |

Yes I messaged Lucy and she was a great help. So you're actually taking 20mg of the elemental lithium per day. I was going to start out at 15 and see how that goes. I'm BP1 and my major issue right now is mood swings with agitation. Has it helped your mood?? I have a bit of an angry streak in me that I'm trying to get rid of. I asked my pdoc for a stabilizer and you know what she told me? She said "work it out in T!" Lol! So whatever, I'll try this. And I'm getting a new pdoc next visit anyway. |

I would advise you to get Dr. Hans Nieper advanced research...I think I got it on amazon for $16.
I think it has helped with my alcohol cravings. along with the glutamine that is. I am more in control. one of my friends who takes lithium is getting acne. I have 2 pimples on my nose.....I never get them on my nose. Last week I had a cystic one on my jaw area. I have rosacea acne but this is not like that. I hope it doesn't get worse, could be a deal breaker. bizi keep me posted. __________________ lamictal 2x a day haldol 2x a day cogentin 2x a day klonipin , 1mg at night, fish oil coq10 multi vit,, vit c, at noon, tumeric, caffeine Remeron at night, zyprexa, requip2-4mg |

Yes I actually heard acne is a side effect and I'm already prone to cycstic painful acne but it's cleared a lot since I'm hitting 30. I've spent so much money on supplements this past few months so I hope this one works. The 5-htp made me more moody because I'm sensitive to serotonin like ADs but L-tyrosine is a keeper. Next fri I'm ordering theanine for anxiety and the LO. Excited to try both! I'll keep ya posted.
