Geodon was making me crazy. I was always mean and in a bad mood so I'm cutting down to using it for a PRN for mixed/mania. And gabapentin was like a tick tack and didn't do **** for my anxiety. I'm still on seroquel, restoril prn and vyvanse PRN. I know, people are going to tell me that stopping my meds are bad. But I'm actually feeling a lot better. Not agitated and angry anymore. I'm also taking lithium orotate and so far so good. And yes I'll discuss this with pdoc too.

Anyone else tweek their own meds? I just couldn't wait a month to see pdoc

Yes, I do at times and so does my husband. I blame the avalibility of pdocs. Does your pdoc have a nurses line you can leave a message with him/her just to inform them?

Yes there's nurses there but they can't do much. If I go when the pdoc is in the office too then it works out so the nurse can go talk to them. I'm not sleeping good and it's taking a huge amount of seroquel to knock me out. So I might call and try to see pdoc sooner or a nurse. And yes the availability is BS. I've been told by them to just go to urgent care! I was having a bad reaction to my stabilizer last spring and I went to pdocs office and they sent me to urgent care. My symptoms were so bad and dangerous that the dr there called my pdoc and *****ed her out for not treating me. Then I got sent to the ER because it was such a serious reaction. So yea, getting in to see someone there is a slim chance.

Usually it's not a good idea to stop meds. HOever if it's making you crazy or some other kind of severe reaction it would be silly not to stop. Geodon made me shake so bad I thought I was having a convulsion.

I sometimes tweak my meds. I am actually taking less Haldol than I should be, and I have no idea why. Maybe because because he has me taking one and a half pill and I am too lazy to cut it in half. I couldn't be bothered.

And if they are driving you nuts then you should do what your body needs.

THe only tweaking I've done is add Adderall back into my mix even though I know I'm not supposed to be taking it at all.

I'm too lazy to cut my pills in half too.

Have you tried just biting it in half? I don't know if Haldol tastes nasty or not, but I do this with Lamictal because it doesn't taste like anything. (It's just chalky in my mouth.) Then I take the other piece and throw it in an empty Rx bottle so that I can find it the next day.

Why do people insist on doing this? Self-medicating is one of the worst - and dangerous - things you can do. If you feel a medication is troublesome, at least wait until you have an appointment with your psychiatrist or prescribing doctor to discuss. Make an appointment if you have to. If you feel you must, even a discussion with your pharmacist can at least inform you of the dangers of withdrawing or changing your meds. I repeat, this is very dangerous.
