My most common auditory hallucination is what I call "chatter." Basically it's random nonsense speech, typically 3-5 word phrases, that happens in the background. I experience these whether I'm in a mood episode or not.

When manic I have two other kinds of hallucination. One is that when I try to read I hear someone else - usually the voice of a famous person - reading the text back to me at a slight delay. Makes reading impossible.

The other is hearing very loud whispers. Unlike all my other hallucinations, these are located outside my head.

What are your auditory hallucinations like?

Voices talking near me. Sometimes in one ear or the other. Sometimes I can understand what they're saying(commands) and other times it's like whispers.

I've heard someone saying my name, radio playing when no one was around and two people talking but I couldn't understand them.

Are your hallucinations located spatially outside or inside your head? Or both?

screaming and gun shots are common themes for me

also the sound of weather (like hearing thunder on a clear day, or birds singing when it's raining)

people drowning (I can actually sometimes hear them gasp for breath)

and music in the distance

usually like icecream truck music, but sometimes jazz (if it's jazz, it sounds like it's coming from 1 of those poor quality tvs they have in hospital receptions, and their is a cheer afterwards)

I get chatter too, and also hear screaming and laughing esp. when manic. When depressed I hear voices telling me things like I'm worthless/should kill myself. I usually hear a voice narrating my actions.
Sometimes I hear jibber in other languages and violin music too.

All I hear is noise. Prolonged and high pitched sometimes. May be tinnitus instead.

My hallucinations just started December 2015 and really got m messed up when I was manic last year. Since then I have still had them and my diagnosis was changed to bp 1 with psychotic features. Fun.
