My head feels like a radio tower picking up random signals. I "hear" nonsense speech that distracts me from reading. I don't know if these are hallucinations or not, because they sometimes can be quiet and are located inside my head, but whatever they are they're making my life difficult at the moment. I've always experienced this, which I call "chatter," but it does not usually prevent me from working.
My hesitation with telling pdoc is that he tends to be dismissive of my psychotic-like symptoms. I don't want to tell him all of this just to be brushed aside. Is it really worth taking that chance? I know you all can't answer that question, but any feedback or ideas are much appreciated.

Hello franz kafka: Well... I understand your concern here. I'm no longer on psych med's. But I do still have a pdoc I see periodically. Mine is pretty dismissive in general. He sees me for about 10 minutes or so, asks me how I'm doing, suggests a couple of med's I could take (which I always decline) & I'm out the door. Really all he's interested in is if there's a med he can prescribe for some problem I'm having. That's it. There's a lot I don't tell him about. And, in fact, I really couldn't even if I wanted to because... how much can you get into in 10 minutes?
![]() So, anyway, assuming your pdoc is like mine (& it sounds as though he is) I'd have to say telling him about your "chatter" is probably only likely to result in exactly what you fear... dismissiveness. The only reason I would mention something like that to my pdoc was if I wanted him to prescribe a med for that particular concern, which he would do. Personally, I would probably be more likely, at least at first, to talk something like that over with my therapist (if I had one... I don't.) And then, if it seemed to make sense, I'd bring it up to my pdoc. But, of course, you know how much this problem is bothering you. If it's really a problem, then perhaps it's worth the risk to mention it to your pdoc. Either way... good luck with it... ![]() |

That's a good point. I feel more comfortable with my therapist... maybe I should discuss it with her first.
