I'm in a mixed episode and cannot get out of bed. I have an emergency appointment with pdoc tomorrow. I was thinking on trying Wellbutrin again but I want the kind that gives you energy as I take a lot of seroquel at night. So how do they differ?? Would I get the same "up" mood from ER??

I take the 2x daily, SR. I take 400mgs/day total. It provides enough stimulation to counter my other drugs (full dose trileptal, low dose lamictal, full dose Abilify) and also to lift my mood a bit.

As an added bonus, its generic and very reasonably priced.

I believe XL is once a day and SR is twice a day. XL made me irritable and gave me insomnia. SR worked much better for me and like the above poster, it kept me awake and stimulated enough to be active throughout my day. Good luck!

My psychiatrist reports many problems with the XL formulation. He says patients have a lot of anxiety, agitation, insomnia with the XL formulation. He thinks the SR formulation releases more smoothly for the patiently. He rarely uses the IR formulation.

I am using the SR formulation.

I have spent many moons on Instant Release, Sustained Release, and Extended Release.

Most energizing was 90mg Instant 3x a day. This was back when I was Dx regular plain ole depression.

Alcohol and weed basically make welbutrin useless. Good luck,

moogs
