Got my weighted blanket!

Boy! Is it heavy! I haven't taken it out of the box yet . I will when i get home. (I'm afraid I'd never get it back in the box.) I stopped by my mom's between ups and home. The blanket and box totalled 21 pounds. I hope I can breathe under it. Lol. I want to snuggle up on the couch with it and watch TV. More when I've tried it. :-). Oh and I didn't think they'd charged me for it yet. I did a search in my online banking- they took it out the day after I ordered! How did I not miss that much money!?

What the heck is a weighted blanket? Does it make you feel safe?

I tried it. It's not exactly what I though. The pellets inside (the weight) are tiny. The blanket *is* heavy. It's big enough to wrap around me up to my arm pits. The flannel is thinner than I thought and there is no cotton inside like it looked in the photos. I don't know how it works for sleep or anxiety yet.

It's a quilted blanket with plastic pellets inside. The weight helps calm kids with aspergers for example and helps with sleep issues and anxiety.

I wonder about bad dreams ?

With really heavy beans in compartments. Or lots of heavy bean bags sewn together to make a quilt.

Why is that? The blanket is supposed to get your brain to release serotonin and melatonin.

How great! i know i always liked when they put the dental xray apron on me. Now i understand why.

It feels cold. I'm going to put it in the dryer before bed.

It will warm up quickly in the dryer. The polypellets absorb heat. When I wash mine I'm always surprised how long it stays warm (although my blanket is a heavier fabric than flannel so I'm sure that's part of it. However my flannel one stays warm after washing too.) It's really nice when it is warm and snuggly.

That's good to know about bad dreams! I don't remember my dreams these days (used to when I was younger). I hope I'll wake up more refreshed in the morning. We will see!

It may take a few days for your brain chemistry to really respond. I honestly don't remember.

I hope it works soon. I got it for insomnia and anxiety.

I really look forward to hearing your ongoing experience with this. I've required HEAVY blankets when sleeping my whole life. My grandfather worked in textiles, furniture making and also made blankets. They were SUPER heavy and wonderful.

My moms friends makes beautiful quilts and I plan to ask her if she could make me a weighted blanket. It would be nice to pick out my own fabrics and have it made to my personal needs and tastes.

My son has aspergers but he sleeps well and has developed wonderful coping techniques which work quickly when he's over stimulated. Still, I wonder if the blanket could be useful for both of us.

I think it worked really quickly. I just don't remember. Oh, yes I do! It was amazing from night one. I remember telling my therapist I couldn't believe the difference. And it worked fast for most of my patients too.

That sounds cool about getting a custom blanket. I think a blanket could be useful to your son too. They are supposed to relax you.

Well now you're making me happy I spent all that money. I justified that it was my bipolar studies monies I got that paid for it.

I get in in winter months, I could never use a blanket in the hot months .. I would melt lol

I had lots of detailed dreams last night but none scary. I'd say that's a win for the blanket.
