My friend just told me that Obamacare will be cancelled soon and Medicaid will be reduced. Can anybody verify this? I'm on Medicaid through social security.

They're working on repealing at least pieces of the ACA, mostly those that have to do with government funding. I wouldn't put anything past this administration unfortunately. I've heard rumors too that they are looking to make changes to the clause regarding those with pre-existing conditions.

The GOP did vote to cut Obamacare but I don't know the specifics. It won't take place right away. I'm sure there will be appeals and everything like that. Hopefully it doesn't get too bad.

I'm scared, too, as so many of us are. Unfortunately, no one knows (like others have posted) what will happen with Medicaid. I'm on it, too, and very afraid of losing it.

The GOP did not vote to cut Obamacare. The Senate passed a budget resolution, with a section called a "reconciliation directive." The reconciliation directive instructs the two House and two Senate committees that oversee the federal health care program to draw up a plan for reducing its toll on the federal budget deficit.

Don't spread misinformation, it does nobody any good.

I'm not. My friend told me this and I posted to clarify.

I wasn't talking to you, your question is all good. I was talking to the person who said there had been a vote to cut Obamacare.

Not trying to come across as harsh, it's just that I don't like rumors being stated as facts - especially ones that can be debunked by a ten second Google search.

As to what someone else said earlier regarding pre-existing conditions. The encouraging thing in the current healthcare debate is that everyone likes and wants to keep the current rules surrounding them. The elephant in the room is the fact that it costs a lot to insure those with pre-existing conditions, and nobody is jumping at the chance to pay for it.

Some people have suggested it should be treated like car insurance - that those in the higher-risk pools should pay more based on that risk. I would venture to guess that almost all of us on these forums would land in the high-risk pool due to our expensive treatment and associated medications. Personally, I'd rather have someone else pay for it.

Nobody knows what's going to happen yet, even the legislators who are tasked with finding solutions. I hope we end up with something we can all live with.

I won my disability case 3 years ago . Because of back dating Medicaid was first 2 years I skipped that and went directly on Medicare. That pesky 20% really adds up, some medical care I need I have to skip.

My husband won his disability case a month ago. There is no automatic Medicaid or Medicare.

Had to go the Obamacare ********t ! I would really like to know how 2 people both on disability can afford to pay 50% of ever office visit and 50% for any medication????? How the F will he get any help for what put him on disability in the first damn place ????

I'm beyond furious , for decent coverage the premium is over 500.00 a month , so yeah .... Both on disability and hate that we have no choice and no help for my husband at all . Sure we just have 500.00 laying around all over the place.

I'm annoyed/pissed/disgusted that our country will allow anyone to cross our boarders and they get help with housing, insurance and jobs and food etc.

Flame me if anyone wants to about my views on letting non Americans of any kind just come on in.

Not arguing with you in any way and you are a thousand percent right
to be as mad as you are but those people that come into our country
are not the reason your health care is so expensive.
That is what our treasonous politicians want you to believe to try and
blind you to the dirty crap that they pull on us all the time.
Universal healthcare is not a problem they just don't want the money
machine to stop so they get richer while we all get poorer.

Fishin ,

I so get what your saying.

Correct it's not directly these people causing the increase but..... if X person gets across the water in my former state Florida they are indeed going to be getting benefits.

My state Tennessee did not expand Medicaid benefits so neither my husband or I can/ could get help. Not even food stamps.

We are currently considering moving back to Florida because at " this point" we could get more help. We own our place here free and clear. The thought of going back down there and possibly not having the security of full ownership scares the hell out of us. One rent payment or home payment could put us on the streets.

What's the solution? I have no blooming idea. But I do want all the politicians be required to have same insurance options as us normal John and Sally's yeah term limits , but that a whole other mess !

I know I'm cranky.... Fibro pain is horrific and has been for weeks and I'm losing my grip tbh. But I have no means of finding help because actual pain meds won't help, and tell a medical provider you have Bipolar And Fibro ??!!!!!!????!! which there is no specific test to prove both either condition. Yeah no help to be given.

Sorry I high jacked this thread Moose, I'm just hanging on that last tiny strand of the rope,
