I was recently prescribed cogentin. I've been taking it for about a week now.
Anyone had memory problems with cogentin? Since starting it I've been having memory problems. I have trouble with word recollection and my short term memory is just shot. I'd rather not go off this. I don't know what other med could be taken for the restlessness, if anything.

I haven't taken this med... but noticed your post has no replies yet and was slipping off the top page.
My memory has probably been adversely affected by meds (but I can no longer tolerate most meds) ![]()

Hi. I've never taken cogentin, but anticholingergics in general can cause memory problems and cognitive problems. Sorry about this.

Hmm. I'm on Cogentin and I have memory problems, but it seems I had them prior to the Cogentin. I'm a bit disappointed with the Cogentin as it doesn't seem to help my tremor much. Or perhaps I need to take more, but I don't want to take more.

I've taken it and it did cause some cognitive issues. It didn't work for me so I'm now on Artane. My pdoc is also looking at increasing Vitamin E.

hi. akathisia can be treated with gabapentin, lyrica, benzodiazepines (I think Klonopin and Ativan are preferred, for some reason), and/or propranolol. There's a little bit of data on using remeron for akathisia and also some vitamins, such as massive doses of B6.
Anticholingergics are more commonly prescribed for EPS like tremors and twitches, akinesia, etc. There's some indication that long-term anticholinergic use along with a major tranquilizer increases the risk of tardive dyskinesia. |
