Does anyone new to taking lithium or does anyone who has taken it in the past ever notice a zoning out while on lithium? I'm currently on 300 mg it's been almost 2 weeks. It's not something really bothersome but I do notice it occasionally I used to be on I think it was between either 360 to 375 mgs but it was so long ago I can't remember if it did this to be in the past. Thanks in advance for the replies!

Zoning out... hmm. I get that with a lot of medications. I take 900 mg of lithium and when I'm just starting the dosage after being off of it for any reason I would say that yeah zoning out can be a side effect of your body/brain taking on a new med. Let alone a new combination of medications. As with anything else I just give it time and patience and take care of myself the best I can.

Lithium turned me into a zombie. I would lose track of time and where I was.
Once I zoned out while driving and almost ran up a curb, and from then on refused to take it.
I am on Epival now, and it is working very well for me

Everyone is affected by meds differently, it has to do with how your body metabolizes the drug, other drugs you are taking, etc. I take 900mg of Lithium and I did feel somewhat spacey for the first few months but then I got back to what I consider normal. I'm still able to do my job well. Hang in there, it will get better.

With all these drugs I take, who's to say which one makes me spacey?

Thanks again for the responses I also have ADHD not sure if that may have something to do with it. It's not bothersome really just something I've noticed but I did notice it wasn't as noticeable today which is good! And mar33 yes STP has great music Scott Weiland suffered from bipolar not sure if it was I or II. Thanks for the replies!

I would zone out when I was on lithium. I didn't take it for very long maybe if I had taken it longer the side effects would have gone away.

What exactly do you mean by zoning out? Where are you? What are you doing? How long does it last?

I am on 450 mg and am not zoning out either. I did not zone out on as much as 1500 mg in the past.

Oh yeah. I totally did. But I needed it. Lithium, Abilify, Lamictal, Benzos and some ADs. Bad times. Feel better. I got off it when I improved.
