So social security made an appointment for me to be evaluated by a dr in march. I don't even think it's a pdoc though. What will they ask, do? Are they trying to work against you or for you? I'm pretty nervous about this.

I had to see a medical doctor for SSDI. I guess they were satisfied with my pdoc's paperwork, but they wanted more evidence because I was also claiming physical disabilities along with MI. I was weighed, vitals were taken, and then I had a general physical exam including range-of-motion of all major joints. I was asked questions regarding my activity tolerance, such as how far could I walk and how long I was able to stand.

This doctor didn't make me do any more than I could comfortably do, which wasn't a lot. I have arthritis in pretty much all my joints and my spine, so I'm limited in doing physical work such as I did when I was nursing. I've gotten better since I've lost a lot of weight (almost 70 lbs) but that hasn't gotten rid of the arthritis or the MI.

The experience was not unpleasant, and I got SSDI a couple of months later. Your experience may be different, but I wouldn't stress too much over it. I had the feeling the doctor was on my side.

I was sent to a psy d and he wasn't very inviting. He didn't give me much time to talk about my bipolar but he did ask a ton of memory questions and stuff such as "what does an apple and peach have in common?" I said they grow on a tree. Or "what is water made from?" I said two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen.

He was impressed by my memory and logic and said he
Hoped I'd go back to college. -eye roll-

I was denied. I had to appeal and when I did with a lawyers help I was approved. It's been four years and I'm doing s lot better.

I dont remember much about it.i was a kid.i just remember countless doctor visits at the time.and i remember going through all the notes after we got accepted and there were notes from regular doctors and psychiatry and therapist about are sessions. My mom had written a letter as well we were denied. Several times despite my condition but finally sent it to the judge. With all the files and paper work. And he decided i could be on disability

Is this your first time applying or is this a reevaluation? They are very nerve wracking, I remember well. I don't think it's fair to assume they are on anyone's side. They should be impartial going in. I believe some people might lean more towards patients rights or the opposite. That is why it's so worrisome. What if they just don't like how you look? It's not impossible. You are putting your life into these persons hands essentially and so much weighs on their decision. It's so stressful. I'm so sorry. Just go in and do your best and hope you get someone fair. Good luck.
