Hello all!
I am going to be taken off of risperidone and placed on latatuda. Has anyone taken this AP? How well has it worked for you? Any side-effects? How is its antidepressant property? Tucson

It has worked for me. I'm also on two antidepressants. I was given up to 100mg and my tongue was "lazy" and kept biting it. Pdoc bought down to 60 mg and that side effect has stopped for me. Might make you sleepy too.

It made me too drowsy, so I stopped taking it.
I was basically on 60mg and I needed a higher dose to help with my depression, but even 60mg was too much for me |

I'm on 120 and it does seem to help. I went off it for two weeks when I was having trouble with the pharmacy and my mood went down the tubes big time. I take it at night and sleep good

I am taking Latuda. I had started it last August. I had an immediate positive reaction, super helpful with paralyzing depression. I found it initially very helpful at 40mg and 60mg.
Over the past 4 weeks, I had tried 80mg, which is the dose where I feel more sleepy. Backed off to 60mg again. My depression has been severe and while Latuda gave a few months of a positive response (very helpful), it seems to be losing it's efficacy with me. It's probably still helping, just not as much, it seems. (I have just added Adderall and am having an effect like I first had with Latuda.) Latuda is often very expensive. My pharmacy charges close to $2K for 30 tabs (at any dose: priced by # of tabs, not dose); my co-pay is $400.00. It's been life-saving, so I've made the payment, yet I may have to stop taking it due to the price. I take it with my evening meal. I can stay awake a few more hours and sleep well. I have very vivid dreams with this med. I hope your access is more reasonably priced. I hope Latuda is helpful to you. ![]() WC |

Hi, I've been on Latuda for about a year. When it was prescribed to me I was badly depressed and severely anxious. No meds were helping anymore. I was really afraid of my mental state. Well, Latuda has been helpful. My depression is much less severe, and even the anxiety is somewhat lessened.
As for side effects...I am on the highest dose of Latuda (160 mg). I have a bad tremor and some discomfort with regard to clenching my jaw. Sometimes I bite my tongue because I dunno, my jaw is too tight or something. My pdoc recently told me to take Cogentin every evening (to help with the tremor and jaw), but it doesn't help that much so far. I've started dropping my Latuda dose just a little bit every few nights and that seems to help with the jaw clenching, even when I go back up to my regular dose the next night. As for weight gain, Latuda is one of the very few psych meds that doesn't make me ravenously hungry. Oh- something really important about Latuda is that you have to take it with food (minimum 350 calories). It's absorbed better that way and is supposed to work more effectively, plus it keeps you from having an upset stomach. Some nights I just don't eat that much and when I take the Latuda I feel a bit nauseated/unwell, so I have to lie down and sleep. |

I'm on 40mg of Latuda. Unlike a lot of people, I get anxiety with this med. It doesn't make me drowsy. It does take care of the depression, though. Haven't had any hypo/mania, either.
So I just take some extra Vistaril when the anxiety gets bad. Seems to help. I also have the lip/tongue moving thing, but I'm on Artane for that. I need to get that raised next time I see pdoc. She tried a high dose of Vitamin E first but that didn't help. |
