I feel like I need to get off meds to see if it's really true because I have this DID memory problem....I can't remember.
Do you know what I mean? Advice? |

I did visit with a therapist for a couple of years and even took Thorazine for a while back in the late-'70s, but today I live without a therapist or any psychiatric meds even though I have briefly tried a few at various times during more-recent years. For myself, my number-one concern is about not losing access to my own mind...and yet my occasional troubles do keep me reminded my mind is not always completely trustworthy.
I have lost a few friends who ultimately died in one way or another after they had decided to stop taking meds, and I have a brother who remains relatively stable until he next-again tries that. If we were going to try to climb Mount Everest, we would first have to do a lot of training and preparation in order to have any kind of chance for surviving the excursion...and I think the same principles apply here. So, I would say it is fine to go on the med-free journey for the sake of discovery, but first be certain of being well-outfitted for the venture and maybe even have a guide who knows the weather and terrain well lest you end up lost and exposed in an unexpected or unanticipated storm.

I totally understand the urge to get off meds to test whether you have BP (or whatever) or not. Can you talk to your pdoc about this? If you go off meds cold turkey it would cause horrible symptoms so taper if you must. Be careful, most people relapse with a bad episode within three months and it takes months to get out of it. Take care.

I've tried journaling but the Others don't which makes me forget because they don't care for it.

Not exactly.....we are such a mish mosh at times with many without names....
I know that I do... I just want to see if this weight loss problem and terrible memory are due to it. Besides...our med support just fired himself...Dr Dic. |

I also suspect that my mood swings might be moody alters....and anti-d just makes the mood swings worse....might be misdiagnosed as par for this condition.
The only way to find out is to stop taking meds. The worse thing that can happen is I have to get back on them....or not. ![]() |

That's not the worst that can happen, no need to fool yourself into thinking that.

I only say because we are still moody. We were never really psychotic....maybe moments of grandiosity, spending binges, elation, rapid thoughts... now knowing what to look for is a plus.
