Another anti anxiety pill

I do t think gabapentin is working for my anxiety. I've been on xanax, Ativan, and gabapentin for anxiety. What else is there?

Klonopin?

Many people do well on klonopin (clonazepam).

Buspar, propranolol. Buspar didn't work for me, but it does for some people. Propranolol is decent.

I hope my Pdoc ups my propranalol for my restlessness/anxiety. I'm on the tiniest dose now.

Buspar is crap. It's just more money to spend unnecessarily.

I'll keep that in mind. It doesn't do anything I take it?

hi. the benzodiazepines are the classic option. Valium isn't as popular in the US as it is in other countries, but its effective, fast acting, long lasting, and easier to taper than some of the more popular options. There's also a xanax xr, if you're into that sort of thing.

BuSpar didn't help my anxiety, but it can boost under-performing antidepressants, or so says my shrink.

There's hydroxyzine. There's Lyrica, which is sort of like pumped up gabapentin, but its 2x daily dosing and you have to flash ID to pick up the prescription. Not supposed to be as addictive and such as the benzodiazepines, but it is more expensive.

I seem to recall reading that in states where they've taken to requiring triplicates for benzodiazepines, meprobamate (good ole Miltown) has suddenly made a comeback. That was briefly the Mother's Little Helper before Valium came out. Its also the substance that Soma metabolizes into.

Now and then, doctors will use barbiturates. I seem to recall reading about some people even in this day and age being given phenobarbital at night. Its a long acting sedative, so after the night time sedation, there's some daytime anxiety relief. Probably not the best idea for the long term, and I hope it isn't a common maneuver.

There's always Seroquel or Seroquel XR, if you want to switch out the Latuda. I think Seroquel has a better EPS and akathisia profile than Latuda, but I could be wrong.

Low doses of various antipsychotics/tranquilizers are an option, but you're already on Latuda. I personally would not want to be on 2 tranquilizers at the same time, but it does help some people. Low dose Thorazine, low dose perphenazine, low dose Stelazine...there's plenty of major tranquilizers that can be used for that, but probably not the best idea for social phobia.

Other than that, I got nothing. I take supplements myself (Orthomolecular) and now I've added l-theanine, the "Suntheanine" brand. High doses=anxiety relief, or it does for me, at this point in time.

Basically yes. There's a variation for the shower too, called showerbation.

Buspar tore up my stomach...not literally but stomach pain so discontinued. Lexapro for some of my anxiety disorders. Klonopin for GAD and Panic Disorder...and bipolar disorder.

My daughter has a severe anxiety disorder and BuSpar is a miracle for her. Meds work differently for everyone.

A pdoc had prescribed me propranolol for anxiety awhile back. Although it wasn't for me, it has worked well for some. Just putting it out there.

Have been on BuSpar for two weeks. Not sure if it is helping or not.

Frankly, am so sick of anxiety. I'd almost trade it for depression. Really sad.

hi. Depression with anxiety is rough stuff. I dropped my wellbutrin because it was helping the low mood but driving up my anxiety. I don't like ssri or snri drugs and tca drugs are just...too...much for me to handle. ugh.

I do hope you get better. My current shrink mentioned BuSpar, actually. He says that it works better with a full dose antidepressant on board. I don't know what that's about, but that's what he told me. I hope it works for you.

Yea my pdoc tried that. Took me off of Wellbutrin and dark depression came. She immediately put me back on it and I was stable again but still had anxiety. I'm thinking of asking her to up the klonopin as gaba didn't help.

I just started Buspirone so I'm not yet sure if it does anything.

Buspirone is used to treat symptoms of anxiety, such as fear, tension, irritability, dizziness, pounding heartbeat, and other physical symptoms.

Well got hold of pdoc. Making gabapentin 2x a day everyday now instead of prn. Let's hope this works.

Gaba didn't help me until I got a high enough dose. Same for Buspar. Now I'm on both and the mixture seems to be working. I wish we could know instantly which meds would work. That would save us all a lot of suffering. Hope you feel better.

Yea doc told me needs to build up and in three weeks should be working.
