My doctor put me on Abilify after my crisis yesterday. Since my body reacts quickly to medication, I'm feeling much better. Any side effects, positive or negative you've experienced? Thank you.

I think it's what's holding me together lately, so guess that makes me a fan. I haven't had any noteworthy side effects.
I hope it continues to help you! Yea!

Mostly just a little weight gain. Abilify works pretty well for me.

I was on the highest
dose of the monthly shot. It was really really good to me for a while. Then it gave me nightmarish akathisia. many people have no problem with it though

I had an experience with Abilify where it did absolutely nothing for the psychosis I was experiencing. No idea if it would have dealt with other issues, as I wasn't on it long enough to find out.

I'm just starting up, a bit over 2 weeks in at 2.5mg/day; so low dose. I do feel "activated" as they word it. A little more tremor, but I had tremor before depakote, the full depakote level stopped it, so this is kinda back to baseline. I see my doc again in a couple weeks, hopefully, bumping both up some will give me the stability of the depakote, and the paranoia breaking/anti-depressant effect of the abilify. We'll see what the doc says.

Hunger hasn't changed; my BP and fasting glucose seem unchanged as well.

I have been on it for a month and ave had no side effects whatsoever. It seems to deal with psychosis and perhaps make mania and depression milder. I'm on 30mg which is the highest dose usually given.

IDK if it calming or activating. I take it at night, of all times of the day. Is that OK?. I'm on 5mg. now.
The side effects I have were from the lithium. I don't have any additionals.

I needed Cogentin for akathesia--made it immediately disappear, what a relief. This was during the first week I started it. I had nausea and fatigue, too, but it went away. I remember the initial side effects being rough but they disappeared after two weeks. I gained no weight. I later had slightly blurry vision for a few months, it's listed as a rare side effect. I decided to keep taking the med as it kept me stabilized - the blurry vision completely disappeared a month later.

It's considered "activating."

unfortunately there were no meds that killed my akathisia. But I don't know if it was because it was a monthly injection or what

I had one of the odd ball side effects of it giving me a runny nose all the time. I had to stop taking it because I couldn't be without a tissue in my hand.

Did you go straight to injection? The prescribing info seems to suggest it best to build up to its stable level orally, and then switch to the injected form if going that route.

No side effects from Abilify and it's kept me sane for 3 years now (that and some lifestyle changes, I think -aka less stress in my life). I'm a big fan.

My whole body ended up shaking. It was a nightmare. Fortunately, my appointment with the pdoc was soon after.
