That is sad news. She has done so much good in the world. I wanted a semicolon tattoo but chickened out.

Incredibly sad. I have a semi colon tattoo on my wrist next to scars. It reminds me daily of strength.

Suicide is indescribably sad.

I wish I could say something that would truly make a difference.

I am so sad that she felt there was no hope for whatever reason, most all of us have been there.

She started a movement to get people talking about mental health and it has changed thousands of lives.

I wish peace for her family.

My semicolon has even more meaning now.

I'm crushed~ and so disheartened by this news. Yet, sadly relieved that she is no longer in so much pain. Thinking of her husband, David.

I am so sorry to hear of Amy's suicide. Strangely, my initial reaction is anger. Anger at her mental illness, which got the better of her.
Thanks for this!

This is very sad. Unfortunately, the biggest predictor of suicide is a past attempt. My thoughts are with her family and all the people she inspired. This really has me thinking about the harsh reality of this illness. I hope she is now in peace.
Thanks for this!

IDK this is rough
I can't stop crying and I NEVER cry. Shut down and go numb yes but I don't cry. This is rough

Sorry if posting this has upset anyone. When I posted it they had not said in the article the cause of death.

I agree this is important information to get out into the community. I read a few more articles on the situation, and others in the suicide prevention community suggested it is only a reason to re-double our efforts to help others struggling with SI.

So sorry to hear about this. I don't have any tattoos but if I was going to get one the semi-colon would be first.
Thanks for this!

Knowing how she died only makes it more poignant. We all know how dangerous mental illness can be. I really hope this hits the news (I hadn't seen it yet) but the fight to break the stigma and to support those suffering must go on. I wanted to get a semi-colon tattoo too but now it will not be the same for me. Yet, on the other hand it gets the message across even more powerful now. May she be a peace and her loved ones comforted.

I've been thinking about getting the semicolon tattoo myself. This is the first time in my life I've even considered one. I feel so bad that Amy's story is, indeed, over; it didn't have to be this way. It's scary to know that I've felt that sort of desperation and the only reason I lived through it was being admitted to the hospital. Sui could happen to any one of us...what a bastard of a disease this is.

I am sad to hear about this and that her dad passed away the same way. I did not know of her or project semi colon until she passed. She sounded like a good advocate for the mentally ill. Thinking of her husband during this tough time.
