Hi everyone....I have something that is bothering me. I've been going to my pdoc since 2015 and I like him. I have bp1 and in the spring and summer my insomnia starts. Well my pdoc has been giving me Ambien 10mg. Last month I went for an appointment and asked for a refill. My pdoc told me it's now required to attend a "sleep class" twice a month to get sleep meds!? I went to the class and hated it!

There's one case manager that conducts the class. She ask a few questions...."How do you feel today?", "What is your goal for today? " and
"Do you have someone to go to for help?" After everyone in the room answers the questions she went over a list of things that could help you relax. I really do not want to change my pdoc but I hated the "sleep class".
I do not live in the same city and have to drive almost 40 minutes to get there. Then the class lasted 30 minutes but was suppose to be 60 minutes. It's not a bp support group or mental illness support group. One lady talked abt playing in the rain with her puppies. Another lady talked abt weight she had lost...that was it.
Everyone else just sat in silence. Should I make the drive and just sit there in silence?

No. Tell the psychiatrist it's a dumb idea and a waste of time and money. Then get your GP to prescribe it.

Yeah. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'd have to agree about telling your psychiatrist it's dumb. Have your GP prescribe it if psychiatrist won't scrap the idea. Sounds like a money scheme.
Thanks for this!
