I usually get it on my highs. I don't spend much time in a depressed state and when I do I don't get into unimaginable lows, so I dunno really if I get them when I'm depressed. However, when I get really manic I always almost have delusions or psychosis. Right now I'm working my way up there (delusion stage) ... or so says my doc. Which I'm not sure I believe him. It might just be to get me on more meds and kill me. So my pdoc is trying to get me from going full on psychosis.

Both but it's deeper and more intense when depressed

I get manic psychosis. In the last REALLY big one, back in 2009 (last mild psychosis was in 2015), the psychosis seemed to prolong the mania.

I also get mild psychotic symptoms when I'm mixed. Meaning I tend to get quite paranoid, but not full-on delusional, when I'm in a more extreme mixed state.

Thinking on this I guess it's when manic too but it bothers others then not me as I don't recognize it as psychosis. The depressed psychosis thou I do recognize that my thoughts are disordered, logically I know the paranoia is not right.

I get it manic, depressed or not in a mood state. (Though I don't often get depressed)

I've had it in both mood states. I get auditory hallucinations and paranoia in mania; but the last time I had psychosis in a depressive phase, I saw black and grey cats running under the linen cart in the ER. That earned me a "promotion" to bipolar 1 (from NOS) and dispelled my doubts about ever having experienced psychosis. I didn't want to believe it. But when I look back over my life and see all the times when I was paranoid and/or delusional ("I'm on a mission from God"), there's no denying it.

I experience psychosis in all states... manic, depressed, and stable. Mainly I get delusions with some sensory disruptions, and less frequently full on hallucinations and disorganized thinking.

I'm still having a hard time admitting to myself that those get the "p" word. I even made a separate checkoff in my mood tracker so I wouldn't need to lump it in with hallucination.

Its funny though, the delusion thing can be far more dangerous than seeing some stupid cats that aren't there...

I think you're right. If I had a choice I'd rather have the latter. Although I'd really rather not have any of it.

During manic, or especially Mixed-Manic phases...the mixed manias are when psychosis is scary. I will get paranoia, and begin to form delusional beliefs that my mind holds on to and runs wild with, until heavy meds eventually bring me back down. I am not psychotic during every mania, but it's usually present during the most severe episodes I've experienced. I cannot recall psychosis when I am in a Depressive Episode, where it's not Mixed.

During fully blown mania or mixed episodes. Terrifying psychosis. Never grandiose. Hallucinations....visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory. TOTALLY delusional and think a secret society is stalking me to murder me.

I am glad I have insight of why it happens and the signs of psychosis headed my way. I treat that ASAP.

Sometimes I can't tell but my boyfriend can and helps me.

glamslam.....yeah that's the worst. I was effected forever by my worst psychotic episode. it gives me shivers just thinking about it. It really screwed me up cognitively for a long time after too. like my brain had melted.
