Well I hope I can explain this. I am bipolar, of course, with depression and anxiety. Sometimes my mind start racing or I get fidgety and can sit still. I need to take something off my mind or keep it occupied. Has anyone used or uses the fidget Spinners or cubes?

Well they are there that have this ball bearing type thing in
the middle of this and you flick it and it spins on its own. They have counter weights on either side. The two and three weights. From what I read, it help ppl with anxiety. The cube has all these buttons, rolling balls, and etc. Both are suppose to help anxiety and fidgetiness |

I have 3 fidget cubes and I LOVE them! I have one at home, in the car, and at the office. Really helps me concentrate on something when my mind is all over the place. Not to mention I'm a natural born fidgeter so it's good to focus my energy on something. Best $9/each every in my opinion. The skin around my nails, lower lip, and eye lashes thank me for it because of them.

I have a few students who have fidget cubes. As long as they aren't passing them around the room, they don't bother me. I have no idea if they are particularly helpful to the students who use them or not. I have elementary teacher friends who HATE the spinners because they end up getting passed around as toys and become a distraction (which is completely opposite of their purpose). They aren't expensive. Can't see why it would hurt to give it a try.

i've not used those.
but I have used squares attached to string before (and actually that's really good) I find using ribbon helps me too |

I just ordered one from Amazon. Risking four bucks isn't going to hurt me.

It shipped today. I'll report back when it arrives; likely my kids are going to steal it from me before I get a chance to play with it much.

I found out yesterday that it shipped from China. It'll be a while before it gets here.

I carry on occasion a worry stone. If it will make my pocket too tight I carry several coffee beans or a small swatch of rough fabric. Touching these things seems to sooth me.

I'm not looking for it to cure anything, mainly I see other people playing with them and want to try carrying one for a while. ![]()

Mine came from China too. I've order them from 2 different websites and they look the exact same and I figure they come from the same factory. Anyways, It took about 2wks or so to get to me. So be patient... however, totally worth it in my opinion.

Are you using it for focus, or just playing with it?

At work it's for focus and it really helps in that regards. The one in the car is to help me concentrate on my driving and fidget with when I'm not holding the wife's hand. And the one at home it's just something to fidget with. If I'm not fidgeting with it then I'm plucking out my eyelashes or ripping the skin around my nails. I'm a destructive person when I'm bored so it's something to occupy my hand with.

This sounds like a great idea. I might have to try one at home first.

The fidget spinners are the bane of my existence as a sixth grade teacher right now lol. If the kids were using them for focus I wouldn't care but they're actually distracting them more and kids are getting into verbal arguments over them. I hope as adults we can use them more responsibly lol!

^^^Yup. I teach high school and today was the first time I encountered the spinner in my room. I just about ripped it out of the kid's hand. It was distracting everyone around him (this wasn't a student who has ever distributed any indications of ADHD or distractibility or fidgetiness himself; I think he just thinks it is cool.) As a teacher, I much prefer the cubes that they can hold in their hand unobtrusively without anyone really seeing them.

I personally think they are pretty cool and probably very helpful to some ppl who truly need to fidget and do something with their hands in order to be able to focus better. |

I appreciate the teacher input on this thread. My 11yo son has been asking for one of these fidget things. But I suspect not to help his ADHD but because it is "cool." I think I'll hold off lol
