So I just started Lamictal yesterday. I felt weird when I took it sort of like a high but not. Kinda wondering how some people felt on it so I can know what to expect from it.. thanks.

Hi Alpha 91!
Welcome back! I am so glad you are okay!

You've seen the pdoc! Great job holding things together while awaiting the appt.

As for Lamictal, I am one of the few unable to tolerate this med.
When I'd first tried it, I'd felt a bit drowsy.

It's a great med. My husband takes it. It's been 15 years and he's been stable. (BP2) He doesn't fall into deep depression anymore.

You'll be visiting family soon! Enjoy your time with them!

I tried lamictal but I got that serious rash they warn you about. It helped while I was on it.

Lamictal is one of my mood stabilizers. I have no side effects from it. Been on it awhile.
Some people get a rash or it activates them so they can't take it late in the day. I've not heard of it making people feel weird but everyone is different.

I got on lamictal a few months ago and had horrible side effects. It made me so dizzy I'd have to hold on to the wall when I walked. It also fried my short term memory. However it does go away and it's my life saver. I'm a rapid cycler and haven't had a single episode since starting it.

I never had a side effect or knew I was taking something.

Lamictal works in the background for depression it does little to really nothing for the hypo/mania episode.

I say give it a bit of time and see if the " high" feeling goes away.

Are you taking it at night? That would be wise if you need to be alert the next day.

Good luck

I'm on 400 mg of Lamictal. It's helped a lot and does not give me any side effects. I had to be patient since this medication takes a very long time to taper up on. It's especially good for depression, in my experience. It prevents as much mood cycling as I've had previously.

Occasionally I feel a little hypo on it, but I'm on other meds too that help more with the manic side of things. I cannot be on any traditional antidepressants due to them making me manic, so Lamictal works well for me without causing that effect. Sometimes I get a little hypo on it, but more so when I first started taking it. So I would say give it time. I hope it helps you.
