A massive problem I haven't been able to figure out:
What do you do when an episode affects the perception people have of you? I'm not talking complete strangers, but casual friends, people at work, etc. people you're not close enough too, to mention the illness, but not far removed enough to be able to say nothing How do you get people to understand, that you weren't yourself during that period of time?

Im interested to hearing the responses to this question as this is a massive problem in my life too.
I personally have gone completely manic for long periods of time on my Facebook which carried over to friends and co-workers. There has been a lot of embarrassment. A lot was never talked about, but some of it I just tell people I was dealing with depression and was off. |

I usually just kind of go on as if everything is fine. I'm sure plenty of people probably think that I'm crazy.

I would just go on as normal. It's not really their business and its up to you if and what to tell them. You might have just been having a bad day as far as they know. Don't feel obliged to explain yourself unless it would be to your benefit. Best wishes.
