It brought me out of an acute depression but I had a side effect I couldn't handle so I stopped it.

I took Paxil along time ago. It did help and had no effects for me but I wasn't consistent about taking it. I eventually went with something else. Best wishes.

I was on it years ago for what my PCP and I thought was simple depression. It made me manic at first, although I didn't recognize that at the time. I stayed on it though and it actually helped for awhile. It pooped out in a few years and I asked for Wellbutrin. Big mistake. HUGE. That stuff turned me into a raging maniac! But that's a story for another post...Good luck with Paxil, you may as well try it to see what happens or you'll never know.

I've taken Paxil and it worked very well, but it gave me ridiculous carb cravings and I gained probably 40lbs. I had to stop taking it. I was weaned off and put on Pristiq.

took it for a bit a really long time ago, when i was 13 or 14. i don't really remember it all that well, just the AWFUL withdrawal. my dad had a similar withdrawal experience but it really helped his depression, got him out of the hospital.

I wouldn't if I were you (not just because I don't think antidepressants are a (lasting) solution, but also because aripiprazole works as an antidepressant already, it's very potent and hence there is the risk of mania).

I have a terrible depression with anxiety attacks and that's what the pdoc selected.
Also changed me from xanax to klonopin. Suspended the vistaril and upted the lamotrigine to 200mg. Too many changes IMAO. But my wife is a nurse and she sided witht the shrink.
BTW, I had an emergency teleconference with the doc. Weird. I like to see people in person. Wish me luck, I really can't get out of this one.
Thank you all for your replies. I guess it comes with weight gain an a nasty withdrawal. But at least works for what I need.
