Which med have you been on the longest? What do you like (or dislike) about it? It doesn't have to be a current med. it could be something you were on ages ago.
I'm looking for new meds to help with my symptoms. ![]() |

My faves will likely be problematic for you.
I generally get along well with Wellbutrin, Celexa, Adderall. I have also been using Klonopin and Latuda. All "weight neutral." I hope you find some helpful meds! ![]() ![]() WC |

Abilify injection. I loath that my clinic doesn't provide it.

I've been on Klonopin the longest. Non-benzo would be Lamictal. Both pretty benign.

I do okay with Wellbutrin, Prozac and Ritalin. I take Geodon to help me sleep and that's when I started getting better when I started getting good sleep. I don't have any draw backs. Best wishes.

Been on Lamictal for five years. It was my first bipolar medication. I've had no ill effects from it (except for blurry vision and short-term memory loss) and it really helps with depression.

I've been taking Lamictal for a few years and am doing fine on it....very little aide effects for us. This is our sweet spot....we can think, no anxiety, stabile, balance is good,
We've tried most of the AP's, but it's not good for our system. Last edited by Anonymous48690; Jun 26, 2017 at 09:51 PM. |

Lithium since 2015. No complaints in general. I think it has really regulated my moods well.

I have been on Benzo's for seven years and wish I could get off them. Will be trying to reduce soon. Second to that I have been on Lithium for five years (except three months off as a trial that failed miserably). It has calmed me down, made me less impulsive and reduced my risk of suicide. The only side effects are tremors and minor thyroid issues which I take medication for. Again I would like to be off it but both my T and Pdoc agree it keeps me safe and more stable than I would be without it.

I've been on gabapentin the longest. I'm unsure if it's still working or not. Maybe I just don't remember my anxiety prior.
Beyond that, it's either Lamictal or Trileptal. Trileptal has been the better med. Less side effects than Lamictal. Helps with some with depression and has done fairly well at keeping me out of hypomania and mixed episodes. |

I'm not sure if I've been on lamictal longer (don't really remember when I started it/stopped it), but I've been on clozapine for almost 3 years now and I think that's the longest I've been on a med.

Lamictal is what I've been on for the longest. However, I've had dosage increases. I am pretty much on the max now. Pros: No side effects for me. Cons: I need more medications with it for it to be fully effective.

As far as I can remember lithium was the drug I was on longest, about 11 years. It worked well but I kept getting toxicities. Three of those was enough.
Currently my longest med is Emsam at almost 8 years. It's great, the only AD I can say that about.

I just started Lamictal as I was just diagnosed as Bipolar 2. Previously Cipralex/ Lexapro sent me into a few months of hypomania. Not sure if Wellbutrin was helpful as I was just on it to counteract the sexual side effects of the Cipralex.

I was on invega for three years, the longest of any med. it completely eliminated any mania and mixed episodes, though it did nothing for depression. I just recently switched to latuda due to physical side effects of invega. It seems to be working fine, although my natural cycle might just be stable right now. I hope it stays this way.

I wouldn't really say I "like" my bipolar meds (Lamictal, Zoloft and now Seroquel as of 4 days ago). I like Klonopin since it blanks out my brain at bedtime, which is good. And I like Metadate because it's an upper and I can use that in the morning. In an ideal world, I would rather be off everything, but I know I can't do that without eventually winding up in an awful state.

I have been on Risperidone for about 7 years now. I like the fact that it stops the voices but dislike it because it quite sedating at the dose I am on now (5 mg).

Seroquel the longest. I like the fact it put me to sleep but it also turned me into an insulin dependant diabetic.
