So I'm on a 72-hour-hold. Wonderful. My tdoc is convinced I'll be released as soon as I meet the psychiatrist but I'm skeptical.
The ER is cold and gross. I'm waiting on an ambulance. The whole point was to get me to see a pdoc, so I suppose in that regard I should be successful. I hate hospital. Any 5150 experiences?

It's very possible that when you see the psychiatrist he will take you off of it. Sometimes they do that to ensure safety til you're evaluated

My best advice is not to protest too much, the more you protest the more convinced they are that you need to be there.

Thanks for the update.
5150? Is that suicide watch? I've been on that. My GP got me a new Pdoc with only a 6 day wait. He pulled some strings. Regular Pdoc of mine died. Also do you participate in DBSA support group?

5150. Been there, done that. It's really not that big of a deal.

I've had a few 5150's sadly. I never thought I'd get through the embarrassment of each of them once I came down......I turned it into a much bigger thing than it needed to be....felt my life was ruined but it wasn't. If you are cold and uncomfortable there, ask for some warmed up blankets as the ER usually has some. Don't be afraid to ask for what you need for comfort. Wishing you the best.

I've never remembered any intake. Weird?

I got to the hospital around 3:30pm and it's now 11pm. I hate hospitals!

Have you been seen yet by a psychiatrist? In Australia it can take many hours to go through the assessment then, if needed, admission process. Hang in there. They will get to you as soon as they can. I'm glad you are in a safe place.

Don't let the ER experience irritate you too much, it does, in the end turn a several week wait into a several hour wait, and once the wait is over, the hospital environment can let them change things very quickly.

Sorry about the hold. Don't cause trouble. Answer their questions the best you can.

Sorry to hear :/
I think you're in good hands, though, and I'm sure they'll help you the best they can. You deserve stability for your Egypt trip and you made the right decision I wish you a quick, smooth recovery. |

It takes a long time for me too. First the crisis manager has to show up (hospital doesn't have one on site all the time). Then s/he has to find a bed. Then s/he has to call an ambulance. It can take several hours.
Hopefully by now you're someplace safe and you can get the help you need. |
