I'm tired of the negativity. It just doesn't help. Can anyone relate?

Let me rephrase your question from my perspective...

Does passive aggressive rhyme with manic depressive?

We have serious issues. Intimacy has been history; she makes me feel dirty about asking.

I also had substance use issues and lied like a rug before coming clean and she has trust issues she can't seem to get over. So I bear some responsibility, but if she can't get past it we won't stay together.

In some ways he drives me crazy, yes. He tries to be helpful (he says) by telling me, when I'm very depressed or anxious, to ask God for help and to trust in God. I feel like my relationship with my God is personal. I don't want to be told when and how to relate to God. My husband and I got into an argument about this recently. I feel like he tells me the God stuff because he isn't making an effort to come up with more practical steps to take in order to receive help. For example, by suggesting that I call my pdoc, or saying, "I think it's really important to bring this up with your pdoc. When is your next appointment? Would you like me to go with you?"

Yes, often...he is Mr Negative, while, when stable I tend to be a Suzy Sunshine. I guess I see good things in life.
So I get tired of the whiney-whiney negativity
My trick is that I just don't listen, I just sort of shut off

I would just like a little sweetness from time to time. I get no credit for holding down a good job, being stable, and just being a nice guy. I know I'm a little on the lazy side, but everyone has their faults, right?

Woolly, I know what you mean, I am the sole wake-earner, and all I want is a little "thanks for going to work today" or "thanks for being there for me".
I think that is reasonable
