I am usually very **** and almost OCD with my money and financial planning. However lately I don't know if it is because of depression that I don't care what I spend. Or if I am switch over to hypomania a little. Lucky so far it has mainly just been buying little things or food and candy I don't need. Starbucks that sort of things. I don't want it to get out of hand though. Of course also because I have been buying junk food I am gaining weight I worked so hard to lose.
How do you a lease on your spending habits when you mood is telling you to buy? |

I've done that in the past....going on spending sprees when I'm very depressed. I just realized after about the 3rd time of a bedroom full of boxes of stuff that I didn't need and couldn't afford I needed to rein it in. I haven't done it since. Good luck and best wishes.

Before I buy things, I have learned to stop and ask myself if 6 months from now I will still appreciate having bought it. Or I'll tell myself I have to wait a month to buy it. Works for me. Impulse buying of food is a little trickier though.

My wife now controls all money and I get an allowance. I know it's like being a little kid but I don't really care. It works for us.

My husband puts money on my credit card. If I spend it, I spend it. If I don't, I'm paying down the balance.
Since he handles the money it's okay. I would be too anxious to handle finances. |
