Hi everyone. I'm currently taking Saphris 10mg at night. Not every night, but several nights I've woken up with a horribly creeping feeling in my body and legs and keep moving them over and over. I feel like I'm crawling out of my skin! Then I will have a few nights without this. My nerves have been shot so I wonder if that's why this is happening. I also worry it's something the Saphris is causing and worried I should contact my doctor? I really don't want to stop Saphris at this time. Does anyone have any experience with this or know what's going on? Thank you for your time.

Maybe a lower dose will still help without causing the moment.

I got that from geodon. I took cogentin to combat it. It worked well.

I've had that feeling a number of times when on Epival and then when starting seroquel. Seemed worse in evening and at night. Would listen to music in bed moving my legs all over. I stopped both meds but I know I prob shouldn't have but doc away 3 wks.
I hope it settles for you soon.

I'm sorry you're having this trouble on top of everything else you are going through. I had a medication (can't remember which one) but it did the same things with my legs. My doctor prescribed propanol and it stopped the problem. Good luck and best wishes.

It sounds like akathesia or like restless leg syndrome. I don't have any experience with that particular symptom, but I'm wondering if Cogentin could help?

I am on .25mg of klonipin and 75mg of seroquel, 400mg of lamictal and 20mg of abilify.
Before klonipin I had restless legs then at 1mg of klonipin it went away.
Now that I am titrating off klonipin...it has not returned except for one night when I had them bad!!!! That was a month ago. none since.

This is called akathisia.

Atarax helps me with it on Seroquel.

I tried Atenolol, which was not very helpful and gave me low blood pressure.

This is a form of EPS, but Cogentin, normally used for EPS amelioration, is reportedly less effective with akathisia.

some people use benzos.

Of all the above, Atarax has the most benign side effects profile and I would start with it. It is an antihistamine. Another advantage - it is a mild sleep med.

I have Atarax so I will try that! Thanks for the suggestion. Why does it only happen at night? It woke me up at 3am and had me kicking and moving for hours! I took an Ativan and it helped but I only have a few and want to save them for emergencies. I will try Atarax and see how that goes and probably write my doc to at least fill him in. I'm thinking it could be restless legs from my nerves being so bad but this just feels different so I do think it might be meds. When they added seroquel for my sleep awhile back I would get kicky within an hour of taking it so stopped....this feels similar but worse. I don't want to have to lower my dose of stop Saphris unless absolutely needed.

Thanks everyone.

If it's restless legs a few mgs of Klonopin work great for it.

I hate restless legs! I can't remember which med gave me that. I did take saphris also but if that caused it then it stopped because I took saphris for years and only had restless legs for a short time. I took klonopin and that helped.

I took the Atarax last night and slept through without kicky legs! Like I said, it doesn't happen every night so it's too soon to tell but I'm hopeful it will help. I need the Atarax anyways due to constant itching I've been getting again lately so I really hope it's a good long term solution to this issue. My doc said med side effects don't come and go, they would be a constant issue so I'm thinking this might just be restless legs from stress. Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone and I'm sorry so many have dealt with this.
