Hi all I'm looking for advice on seroquel. I'm only taking 750mg of lithium but been having sleeping problems for the past few days. I really don't wanna start taking or upping any medications but I had to see my pdoc today cause I was worried about my sleep. He prescribed me seroquel to take at night and told me to think about taking it. He suggest to just try it for the next two days then see him again on Thursday. How does seroquel effect people really hesitate to take more meds help please!

I take 25mg a couple of hours before I go to bed. It has really helped. The first 6 weeks or so I was real drowsy in the morning and usually took a mid morning nap, but that has passed. I do have some pretty vivid dreams, but I was already vivid dreamer anyway.

I have Seroquel PRN for sleep. It works like a charm. If I'm laying in bed and my mind won't shut off, 25-50mg knocks me out. Doesn't leave much of a hangover at that dose.

Hi Jensitive, thanks for the reply. Have you had any side effects such as weight gain, foggy brain etc? He also said I could consider it as a PRN if I don't want to take it on a regular.

It works well for sleep just beware of the side effects. I got diabetes from a low dose of seroquel.

I was taking Seroquel at one time during the day. I don't remember what dose I was on but it put me to sleep for the day. I even missed the second day of a new job because I slept through it. At your dosage and taking it before bedtime should help you get some sleep.

I used to take, when unstable, high doses of Seroquel during the day; I would fall asleep at my desk at work.

However, as I improved, I was able to slowly lower the dose to the point where now I only take it to sleep (25mg about an hour before I want to sleep). It works. I basically pass out when it's at its full potency. BUT, I need a lot of sleep. On work days, I go to bed super early, if at all possible, so that I can get a minimum of 8 hours, but hopefully 9 hours of sleep. On weekends, I'll be dead asleep for 10 hours, sometimes more.

So that's my suggestion. When you take it (if you have to get up early the next morning) make sure you go to bed VERY early, make sure you get at minimum 8 hours of sleep, more if you can.

It does make me foggy in the morning and I drink lots of espresso. I couldn't take it without lots of caffeine the next day.

The one upside, as I mentioned, is that it works. I get to the point that I can't stay up any longer, no matter how much I want to; I just basically pass out. So if you want to sleep, this is the medication for it.

Seroquel is awesome for sleep. Theres nothing better in my opinion. But be careful if you take it regularly because it's very hard to get back to sleeping without it.
