I really hate it when I am in a good mood and hubby says "you're acting a little manic".
Am I not allowed to be in a good mood?

Amen. I'll second that. I hate that comment. "I'm not manic, I'm having a good time. There is a difference."

I hate it when I have a legit reason to be upset or emotional over something but people automatically assume that I'm in an episode.

Omg yes!! My brother says this to me as well, he also has Bipolar. It's quite irritating because I'll just be in a great mood, which isn't too often for me. So I'm just minding my business .. being happy and here he comes with the "You're manic" ..

I hate that too. For the love of pete! Just because I'm happy doesn't mean I'm manic or having a situation.

Not many people, including my family, know I'm bipolar. But if someone says that I'm being manic, I listen. They might be right.

I hate that! Sometimes I'll be having a really, really good day and some well-meaning family member or friend will come along and accuse me of being manic. They don't get it that a bipolar person can have normal good moods just like they can. Irritates the hell out of me.

The worst, for me, "have you been taking your meds??"
I HATE that question!! And it was always my mom asking me if I would go on about a bad day. Taking my meds at this point is like drinking water, I do it everyday because I know I have to. It's second nature, I feel sick when I skip a day. I'm just human and still have real emotions.
She has learned to stop asking that, finally.

Oh yes, that has to be annoying!! I'm BP2 and always get the opposite. People assume I'm in depression when maybe I'm just having a bad day.

And I agree about the "are you taking your meds?" question. I get that from a family member. To me it implies that meds "fix" us. They don't. We still struggle.

I get annoyed when people go the other way - discount my happiness because I am slightly hypomanic. Happy is happy, if I am not manic enough for concern. I have not been truly "stable" in about 25 years; the closest I get is just being slightly depressed or slightly manic. Since the last med change, slightly hypomanic is the new normal and I smile and laugh a lot more. This happiness is real and it annoys me to no end when people say it's just my mood and not true happiness. If that is the case, then I am not allowed any and I won't accept that.

That annoys me too. I almost never have anything but severe depression but on those rare days that I've having a good day, my relatives say "Are you feeling ok? You're a little high energy." Ggggrrrr.

I have the opposite problem, when I feel like I am in an episode my family members just shrug it off and say everyone has good\bad days.

My family seems to be more worried that I'm down more than when I'm up. I do have more depression, but sometimes I just feel a little low.
