I feel overwhelmed. I have tons of things to do in the next few weeks and they're all extremely important. I feel I will fail them all. I want to run away and cry.

I know the feeling. Just take it one task at a time if you can. I get that way with school work specifically. I break it down into chunks.

I hear you. Fear and anxiety suck. Somedays, I feel that I cannot escape their sticky and constricting grip. I am always doing short exhales, like sighs, to be a quick step back and try to get a hold of my center again.

I can't deal. We need to go to the grocery store but the kids are fighting about that.

Quote:
If you leave with someone, have them do a task that is moderately important which would be supervised by the adult. It could be taking out the garbage or something lIke that. It wouldn't make a difference if it is not garbage day or not; the point is to have them do something. If they don't do it, you can be disappointed, but if they do it, then you can thank them for doing it. Be the director of the house, get them to help out. Thank them when they do it and start working towards praising them. You are their parent that means you are a comforting disciplinarian teaching them the awkward, not cool, but necessary lessons of life. Not the big lessons right away, but age appropriate ones. Home should be where they can learn to do this life stuff with help and support. It doesn't hurt to be honest about some tasks being difficult for you because they can learn persistence in the face of disinterest. Every parent wants their kid to be better off than they are. It doesn't necessarily need to be financially, but it could be keeping their living space clean or turning off lights or maintaining appliances & machines or cooking better meals. If your kids know that you are trying to help them get along in life, then they could pay more attention to you. That's probably my three cents, rather than two, but I hope it helps. |

Hugs Moose. I have been feeling this way too, but for no reason. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm overwhelmed as well. Taking things in small steps, though.
