I went to pick up my meds today and just decided to ask the pharmacist about the symptoms I've been having and if any meds could cause it. He said it's probably an allergic reaction to on of my meds, so I when I got home I looked at my prescription history for when all this ******** started and low and behold that's when I started taking Vitamin D. I went looking for the side effects of Vitamin D and found these:

Excessive thirst
Metal taste in mouth
Poor appetite
Weight loss
Bone pain
Tiredness
Sore eyes
Itchy skin
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Constipation
A frequent need to urinate
Muscle problems
Headache

Many I can check off, so I emailed my pdoc and said I was going to do an experiment and go off Vit D and see if symptoms improve. I also asked him to leave a thing for labs at the front desk so I could get them done before my October appt. I have therapy next week so I can pick them up then. But I'm hoping I have found my answer. Huzzah.

Great news!

Well worth looking into!

I adore my pharmacists and rely heavily upon them both.

I hope the answer is this simple. Within the labwork orders, did you request a Vitamin D level?

I hope you are more comfortable asap.

I hope it's that simple. I too have most of those symptoms and have for about a decade. It was those symptoms I reported which made the doctors put me on Vitamin D so for me it wasn't the cause. However each time my doctors gave me something to treat my symptoms, they just seemed to get worse and I too would then blame the meds for causing the symptoms I had before starting the meds.

Many of the symptoms you report in your threads are things I battle. I went to doctors for years thinking I must be dying to be so sick. Many doctors and opinions and tests later in still being assured I'm not dying and my issues will not kill me. I'm not saying this is the case for you but for me, stress and anxiety make me horribly sick. My gut is like a second brain and so much of my psychological distress gets processed in my gut. Stress makes my actual physical problems so much worse.

With that said, years ago doctors told my mom she was just having stress when in fact she had colon cancer and nearly died. Keep getting tests and I hope they find something which can actually be fixed. Good luck.

He always checks the Vit D anyways. He was the one that put me on the Vit D.

i feel so much better tonight. Still hurt a bit and nose itches a bit, but nowhere near how bad i was feeling. I talked to my aunt yesterday and apparently she has the same reaction to Vitamin D. My mom always did say i was her kid. lmao.

Today I have to go get my Vitamin D levels checked.
Thanks for this!

I always thoroughly research everything I'm taking. Just goes to show that OTC's, vitamins, supplements, natural and herbal preparations can have side effects and interactions too! Sometimes even worse than our prescription meds.

I just figured Vit D would be fine cause I had taken it in the past and didn't have issues with it. I guess I'll have to start basking in the sun to get my Vit D. haha

Meds, vitamins, and "natural" supplements can cause the very symptoms they are supposed to alleviate dangerous waters to navigate.

I take vitamin D because of the symptoms you listed. But only because blood work indicated that I was very low on vitamin D.

I hope this works for you. My fingers are crossed.
