Here's a little problem I'd like to share. I discovered that one of my students is the son of a therapist I used to see about twenty years ago. I saw her every week for several years. We are having open house Thursday night, and I am sure she will be there. He is a special needs student, and I am the special ed teacher in the class.

What to do?

I'd treat her like any other parent.

I agree, treat her like any other parent if you can. I'd be uncomfortable with that too

I hope your professionalism coupled with her professionalism made the situation less intimidating but, as a former teacher myself, I certainly understood your feelings about the P-T conference. I hope it passed without stress.

This is bad advice but honestly I’d act like I didn’t remember her. That’s prettt much my coping mechanism when I run into people that I have a bumpy past with. And i repeat... not the best advice.
