Has anyone done this test? I'm thinking about trying to do it. I have had nothing but bad experiences with meds. Everything makes me suicidal (like a danger to myself instead of my normal ideation) and I'm having such a hard time coping with all the cycling. I'm bipolar II and no meds for 3 years now except for the occasional Ativan for anxiety. I'm so sick of feeling depressed and having suicidal ideation on a regular basis. It is exhausting. If you have taken this test did it help you find a good med? I'm getting desperate 😞. I have a good husband, a child I love more than anything, a decent albeit stressful job. I don't want to feel this way for another 30 years!

I have done it for myself and a couple of my kids. My pdoc uses the results to note what meds should not be considered or I may be more or less sensitive to. They have a sliding scale for payments so if you don't have much money they won't charge much. I recommend it.

I took it couple months ago and haven’t had anything related to it prescribed. At the time I was seeing my former psychiatrist who ordered the test, then after came out started iop and jut recently gave him the results. Which I haven’t heard anything about.

Never had it. Does it tell you about other genetic propensities? Like risk of caners or heart disease?

It doesn’t. It says which meds are metabolized easier. It may or may not help with your diagnosis. The one I took, not sure if they are different, measured antidepressant, mood stabilizer, anti psychotics, opioids, non opioids, hypnotics, benzos. I think that’s it.

Your primary or pdoc swabs you and sends it in. I think it is possible to get it direct also but I am not positive. My primary NP did mine.

I think that is all they do right now; mine and the kids' were the same as yours. Because they have a lot of trial and error to find the right cocktail for you, it can really save some time and frustration to know which ones to avoid or give you more or less of.

Well I went and got my cheeks swabbed today. They're going to test me for opiates, psychotropics and the mthfr gene. I'll keep you all posted on the results. So far it was a piece of cake.
