I just don't understand it

why when you talk about pooh or the toilet, is it so ****ing amusing?

I have just finished watching half an hour of a comedian, where all he talked about was pooh, and toilets, and pis

the crowd went wild for it

sorry... what's funny about it?

and it's not just comedians either

you just have to go up to someone and talk about pooh and they break in to laughter

yes I'm ranting I suppose

I don't get the funny side

Just pretend you're 4 years old and the Pooh will be funnier

even if you were 4, i'm pretty sure it would still be gross

"so my mother was standing in the hallway with a peace of pooh in her hand"

that's 1 of the quotes from what I have just seen, and the audience roared with laughter

Nah, little kids are heavily into bodily functions... But I get your question. Why adults?? Regression?

Potty jokes are one of the things I say that get me in trouble sometimes. Some of that stuff just pops in my head unbidden and rolls off my tongue. Why is it the same people who howl with laughter when a comedian does that are offended hearing it in conversation? I wish I could stop myself from saying things like that.

I think it is the violation of social taboos that causes the logical incongruence (which is the nerdy way of describing humor). The jokes are generally third person so it is a story about someone else dealing with something gross. Sex jokes are also funny when they really aren't that good; again with the taboos.

I prefer my comedians to be a little more... mature.

telling jokes about the way we live or certain asspects of life.

I'm not easily offended (says the person groced out by toilet humor), but i'm not

give me a sex joke, racist joke, what ever, i'm fine with it

just not toilet ones

I prefer subtle, sophisticated humour...you just can't be subtle or sophisticated about pooh.
