First let me say that I was diagnosed with Bipolar a little over 3 years ago. I am 22 and I am a male. The medicine I take is Lithium 600mg in the morning. Seroquel 800mg at 6:00pm and 900mg of Lithium at night.

I am a father of a 4 month old and I have some questions about what's been going on at night. I'm usually up 2 or 3 times at night and into the morning.

When my fiancé asks me to get up I do but the strange thing is that I can't comprehend what is going on. One time I asked her if milk went into the formula when this is a no brainer that of course you don't put milk in it.

Also when I'm feeding him I cannot stay awake at all. My fiancé has to constantly tell me to get up and stay awake.

Can someone tell me what is going on? Is there anything that can be done so I am awake and prompt- and actually know what's going on around me?

Thanks so much
Hugs from:

Could be a seroquel hangover. That usually happens on lower doses though. Seroquel is a strong med, especially at that mg you're taking.

Have you had your lithium levels checked lately? Drinking enough water with it?

I'm trying to remember what else could happen on those meds but it's been so long since I took them.

Also have you had your thyroid levels checked? Lithium can ruin them. That's what happened to me.

I would tell the doc and question the seroquel dose.

I had lab work done early last week. The doctor should have the results by now. My doctor tests for many things like the thyroid levels etc. I drink water throughout the day as my main source of liquid

When my kids were babies I was falling asleep while feeding them too. I was just so tired. Could be meds or it could just be you are extremely tired. Taking care of infants is a hard and exhausting job. Best of luck!

I'm guessing it's likely the meds.
Please talk with your prescribing pdoc.

Congrats to you and your fiancé!
What a blessing!
