I've been noticing lately that pain in my upper back and neck increases, sometimes gradually over the course of weeks, when I'm stressed out. Then out of nowhere I'll get a mixed episode and the pain increases 2-3x until I can calm down and get back into a stable mind. Sometimes pain goes away completely the next day, sometimes it doesn't. I'm finding that my pain is a physical indicator of my level of hypo/mania/depression.

Do the rest of you guys experience the same thing? If so, what other sorts of physical indicators do you experience?

I get a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders especially it's tension. When it really bad I ask my doctor for a prescription for therapy. It helps a lot

I have physical stuff going on in lumbar but upper back is okay, so when it starts hurting, it is muscle tension. For me, the jaw is the indicator; if I am clinching and my jaw hurts, my upper back will also. Stress makes me clinch.

I have been in the same situation. I recently came down from a manic episode and I have had some issues with my teeth but the problem that I have had was this excruciating pain all over my body. I am scared because I cant tell if its actual pain or if it is all psychological.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

Yes. When i have depression, my body aches. My back and my joints become sore and inflamed. Very painful. I also have multiple sclerosis and that hurts much worse as well. My neuropathy in my hand and feet burn and throb.

Either my Bipolar flips me into an angry mania OR my chronic pain flips myself into a ugly Mania.

Cycles for me
