Do you feel "normal" and are able to function normally? Or has lithium only partially worked?

I am definitely curious too. I've been on the med Merry go round and this is the next stop. Fingers crossed as this seems to be the go to med! Wish I could give more info to you.

I’m curious for responses, too. I’m only on my second month. I should be at a therapeutic dose in a few weeks. I reduced my seroquel. So far I love it! No side effects. My anxiety seems to be decreasing. Crossing fingers!

The psychiatrist I had briefly a couple of years ago told me lithium is THE gold standard for bipolar. It is the most effective drug.

Funny that's word for word what my prescriber said too. In terms of mood stabilizer, I've only tried lamictal and had zero effect with that

Lithium was really good at calming my rapid cycling. It also seems to have had some anti-psychotic effect since I had psychosis before I was ever on it and only a little the years I was on it and considerably more since I had to go off it. I had trouble with toxicities (I had 3) so even though it was a really good drug for me I had to stop it eventually.

I hated lithium. I don`t think I was on it long enough to know if it helped or not. I had side effects on it. It made my hair fall out. Thank God my hair grew back.

Lithium is partially effective for me, but I've still have had manic episodes while on it. Just shorter and less often.

I hated it. Hated with a passion
Everything tasted like salt and I had an unquenchable thirst
At random intervals, it would make the entire world spin around
Needless to say, I am no longer on it
