Those of you that take klonopin to help sleep how long does it take to kick in? I am on 2mg and 2 hours later I am still not drowsy.

I don't get drowsy off of my klonopin. I just take it when I am having anxiety attacks. My pdoc has told me to take it at bedtime but it does nothing for me.

I have several meds that are supposed to make me sleepy, but even though I take them at 9:30 PM I usually don't get drowsy till after 1 or 2 AM. When I do go to sleep, though, I stay asleep throughout the night and get up around 10. I'm a night-owl anyway so I think this is a normal sleep pattern for me.

Maybe it is for me too. When I was on zyprexa or seroquel it took me 4 hours to get tired.

I heard a lot of complaints from my mother when they took away her Ativan and gave her klonopin. She couldn’t use it for sleep like the Ativan.
Thanks for this!

2 mg of Klonopin does help me sleep, within about 30 - 45 minutes. The problem I have is that I fight sleep when I take it. If I take the Klonopin, then force myself to just wind down, go with the clam, I'll sleep very well within 30 minutes. But I never do that. I make myself stay up.

Seroquel was the only thing that actually forced me to sleep. However I used to take up to 800 mg, which made me comatose, and eventually stopped it. But a few months ago I started taking 50 mg, and was suicidal until I stopped it. Weird. Klonopin is great for me, if I let it.
Thanks for this!

This. I have a window in which Klonopin will help with sleep; about 30 min. After that it does nothing for sleep.

I sleep on .75mg like 30 minutes after taking it. I wake up twice a night to eat. Klonopin works better than xanax for sleep. My previous med.

It used to take about 15 minutes, but in a manic state I can lay awake on just about anything.
