Hello, I'm new to this forum. I am Bipolar II, and was diagnosed 12 years ago and been on medication since. I have been the CEO of 2 companies and a senior executive at 5 others. I've had 13 jobs in 25 years and been fired from 6 of them for "bipolar reasons". I am writing a memoir-novel about my bipolar illness. I also maintain an active blog about my current life and past topics like childhood, medication, marriage, depression, mania, mood scales, book reviews, etc.

Welcome to the forums. I think it's great you've been able to make something positive of your experiences.

You might enjoy this book:

The Hypomanic Edge: The Link Between (A Little) Craziness and (A Lot of) Success in America (Hardcover)
by John D. Gartner

It is available at Amazon.com. I just read about it, and the theory is that very successful, or short-term successful people are able to channel their hypomania/mania in order to be successful. Very interesting.

Hello!!!!!

Glad you found PC...I don't think you are alone in the job changes or the "higher" type positions...I think many people who have BP have operated very successfully when they are up...I think a lot of the forward thinkers may be "up"...think about the risks, amazing wild thoughts that individuals have...anyway makes me wonder...

If your 13 jobs are basically in the same area of expertise...I would worry about it too much in terms of being a large hinderence....

So half due to BP...may I ask in what way do you see that?
