I went to the GI doctor yesterday and they *believe* I have allergic esophagitis, which basically means certain foods/allergens cause my throat to swell (it gets narrowed enough that food gets caught, but doesn't completely swell shut). I also get chronic coughing and chronic heartburn. It seems that I can't eat crackers or apples, but I can totally eat french fries (go figure...).

But anyway, this diagnosis doesn't get confirmed until the biopsy they gathered comes back. I just can't eat much food in general (due to the intense burning pain), and it's damaging my sinuses (which I didn't realize). And I have to go back to my allergist to figure out what I might be allergic to. So I may have to go on a special diet for months if the allergist can't figure it out, and will have to completely change my lifestyle no matter what. It sucks.

It's really bringing my mood down. I'm screwed. The pain is terrible, but has been like this for years, actually. It just comes and goes, although it is more frequent nowadays. Sometimes I wonder if lamictal makes it worse too -- and rexulti -- because sometimes I get reflux from taking them, or even vomit. Yet another reason I don't like taking them.

It all sounds very uncomfortable!

I hope the biopsy results show an "easy fix."
My heart goes out to you.

Once the allergist figures it out, If it is restrictive, you might find a support community. I used to read paleo diet blogs, and even tried hanging out with a group that reads Paleo books. There were a lot of people with food allergies there. I think the Paleo Cure is the best book.

I am so sorry you’re going through this

Sorry you're having so much trouble. I've gotten rid of gluten, most sugar, most dairy, and red meat from my diet and I'm doing much better. Not sure what's causing what, but at this point I don't care. Just feel better is all I know.
