I’ve been in IP 6 times but never in IOP. I’m almost positive my pdocs office has it there BUT I think it’s just for people coming out of drug rehab. Is there a difference between IOP from rehab vs IOP from a psych ward???

I can’t get over my issue with drinking. I don’t drink as much as I used to but I’m drinking just as often to calm my nerves and that’s about every day. I’m not into the 12 step thing either. Would I be a candidate for IOP??

What do they do in there and how often is it? Can you miss days? Are you drug tested?

What is your experience and does it help?

It depends on the IOP, the only way to find out if you're a candidate for a specific program is to ask them. Ive been in an IOP and will probably return soon. The one I go to is geared towards adolescents with mental illness but young adults and those struggling with non mental illness related things can go too. There's a psychiatrist there you can see daily which has helped me a lot. The groups also have drastically changed how I think about things as well.
This IOP is 3-5 days a week Monday through Friday and also offers PHP. If you're PHP its 12-3 and IOP is 3-6 but some people stay all day from 12-6 if they need to. There's no drug testing and you can miss days as long as you still come at least 3 days a week.
I strongly suggest the program I'm in to anyone that can go because its helped a lot just having a community irl that I can talk to and can monitor me especially during times like now where I'm not stable.
Thanks for this!

My iop is dual admissions. My group mostly have addictions except me. They are drug tested randomly except me. I usually get to talk about my issues and I’m close to being discharged.

As for being a candidate, I was very depressed, sleeping weekends away, not thinking about actively killing myself, but thinking of death and how would it be with me not around and would people get to my funeral. Both my t and pdoc urged me to go. And actually they thought php would be better. That’s what got me in.

IOP is pretty much as described. The addiction group was separate from the mental health group in mine. I’ve been twice and it’s been very helpful.
